Easter Cloches

Okay, so I'm trying to decorate for Spring and Easter.  I'm on Elements Interiors blog and see a project Kara is doing and I wanted to do it too.  So I got ready and headed to town.  I saw GW and decided to stop (for some reason my car will just not go past it) to see what was there.  BIG MISTAKE!!!  They were just starting to put stuff out and there wasn't a heard of people surrounding the baskets.  I was there for hours (REALLY) but, I got lots of GOOD stuff.  And I don't guess I'll be making the long project with Kara.  While I was there, my little girl  ...cough, cough... who will be 21 on April 2nd called and is coming home for her birthday.  So now I have a long project of getting things ready for her party. She sent me a picture of the cake she wanted and it was going to cost $300.00 (I almost fell over when I read that).  Well, needless to say, I'll be trying my hand at Fondant.  WoW, if it turns out looking anything like the picture, I'll be a happy girl.  And, no matter how it turns out I'll show you guys.

A .99 cloche with a dead butterfly (yuck) that I had gotten on a previous trip.

I took the glass thing-a-ma-jig off the base and hot glued it to the top.

I got the cabbage salt & pepper shakers .99 cents,
the little bunnies .99 cents
the Sister plate .49 cents
And some other good things too.  I'll have to show those to you later.

I had every intention on setting this up on my red table on the porch but the wind is blowing so hard that it broke one of my pole planters

So, I decided to put it in the kitchen.  I think I like it better in there anyway.

In a earlier post I wrote about going to Canton for First Monday Trade Days.  That's where I got the two little lambs and the grass/moss.

The cloche I got at Hobby Lobby (1/2 price sale) and the cross came from a trip to Belize.  This to me, is a perfect picture of Easter.  The lambs (Jeasus is the Lamb of God) and the cross (he bore the cross for our sins).  Just look at their little faces, innocent just like Jesus.

Thanks so much for stopping by :)

The Birds

We just had our house painted and haven't gotten the screens put back on the windows. With that said, I was doing some painting in my bathroom, so I opened the doors and windows to help the drying process along.  The next thing I knew I heard all this chirping going on and it sounded really close.  Yep, two Barn Swallows got in our master bedroom.  I was running around flailing my arms like a crazy person trying to shoo them back out.  Meanwhile I think every time they took off they would lighten their load, on my comforter, window treatments, walls, well just all over the bedroom. When that didn't work, I closed all the doors and windows except  the balcony doors and finally I was able to scare them out (I know they were scared because I kept thinking, "Dude, if some giant was chasing me and acting all crazy, I'd be scared").  It took me almost 30 minutes to get them out and more than once I thought I wasn't going to win that battle.

Aren't they sweet looking

Crazy little birds, why is it that they can find their way in, but not out?
Just another day in the country ya'll.

Country Spring Porch

Today was a perfect day weather wise.  I was able to get outside and not sweat-to-death.  It seems like here in Texas it goes from too cold to 100 (I'm just say'n).  I had two outside table and chair sets that I sold on CL last summer because we really never eat outside, but we do set out back with a cup of coffee almost every evening and watch the birds and the sun go down.  So, I ordered a new conversation set.  It came last week and today I decorated the back porch.

(Before)
I started with this, but it needed something in between the chairs and more color.  There's Mr. Bubba looking at the birds.

This was better but still not quite right

This is the way is looks now

Thanks for looking :)

Woo Hoo for Ross

Okay, I must admit that I was a little jealous when I read Savvy Seasons by Liz Wednesdays blog post http://www.savvyseasons.com/2011/03/reliable-ross.html.  She had found a beautiful picture frame and I was in Oklahoma helping my dad lay tile in his bathroom and the nearest Ross was over 3 hours away (UGH!!!).  I got back in town Friday and before I even went home I stopped at Ross to see if by some chance I might find one I liked.  Woo Hoo I did, I did.  I even found one like Liz got (okay the jealousy is gone now).  Just look at all these beauties

If you look close at the bottom one you can see my mom and me in the little frame :)

Well, I'll meet you ladies back here tomorrow for Whassup Wednesday.

I found a Birdcage and she's beautiful

My cousin and I went to First Monday Trade Days today.  We got there at 7:30 (way before anyone else), then we found out most of the venders didn't open until 8:30 on Sunday.  Let me back up a minute, just as I was taking the buggy out of the car, I saw some money laying on the ground ....it was a $20.00.  It didn't last long because I bought us breakfast since we had an hour or so to until all the shops opened. I've been looking for a birdcage to turn into a hanging light.  I found it, I found it.  YAY!!!  Now all I need to do it get a light to go in it.  But, that will have to wait because, I start helping my dad tile his bathroom tomorrow.  YAY again, I get to spend time with my dad and I get to do something I like.
