Storing food so you can see it

I posted yesterday about eating healthier.  I have a few things I do that I know will help me stay on track. I am a visual person and like to see pretty things even in the refrigerator. I took peaches and put them in a glass container and had peaches and cottage cheese for breakfast.

And, I like to snack while I cook.  So I got some grape tomatoes and put them in a bowl on the counter.  I also found these apothecary jars at Ross and I put cranberries, pecans and sunflower seeds in them.

I like to make salads and put them on it.  It's what I had for lunch today.

I want to say, thank you for stopping by and visiting.

I'm talking about weight today

I am a believer of "you are what you eat" and when I was in my early 20's I ate very healthy.  I even taught aerobics at the gym I went to.  After I married and became pregnant, although I knew better, I  ate way too much unhealthy foods during my pregnancy. I craved Baskin Robins, Peanut Butter & Chocolate ice cream, which my husband drove by everyday on his way home from work.  As a result I gained 70 pounds my first pregnancy.  I quickly lost it because I went back to eating healthier.  My second pregnancy I craved toast with peanut butter, so when I gained 70 with it also I didn't think anything of it.  Afterwards, the weight didn't come off near as quickly and at the end of 6 months I still had 30 pounds I needed to lose.  I started keeping track of what I was eating and soon discovered that I was eating enough for at least two people.  I "tightened my belt" as the saying goes and started eating smaller portions and working out.  Then in 2002 I started slacking and gaining again.  As of three weeks ago, I have almost reached the weight I was, at 9 months pregnant.  I started keeping track again and see that I eat way to much restaurant food and I see I am a breadoholic.  I went grocery shopping yesterday to restock the refrigerator and pantry. Today I've started my path back to a healthier lifestyle once again.  I know that I will have fewer aches and pains, be more patient, have more energy and be able to fit into smaller clothes. For dinner I made Skillet Gnocchi with Chard & White Beans, although I used spinach instead of chard.  I loved it, my husband not so much.

I'm not a real open person so I don't know how much I will be talking about my weight. I do know if one person is going through some kind of a struggle, there are others dealing with the same thing.  God will put me on his back and carry me if we can't do it hand-in-hand.

I will talk to everyone soon.

Adding and taking away in our Master Bedroom

The other day I posted about getting some things at Hobby Lobby and I had showed you where I placed some of them.  Today I'll show you a little more.  I replaced some of the pillows on our bed.  The bedding and drapery are Rose Tree, a gift from my husband.  He saw it while he was there on business.  The new pillows came from Hobby Lobby. The monogram on the black pillows are our initials and the one in the middle says Love.  Are you feeling the LOVE? lol

I added the wall sconces to either side of the painting, it came from Kirklands years ago and the sconces came from Ross.  If you enlarge the picture you can see that the detail work on the sconces are the same as on the frame.

We had a t.v. that used to set on the top of our armoire because it was to wide to fit inside it.  We took it to our other house not to long ago.  We had intended to get another one to replace it but, have discovered that not having one in the bedroom is a good thing. So I have more room to decorate that space now.  The topiary  is a recent purchase from Home Goods, I got two but haven't found a permanent home for the other one yet.

Nothing new in the pictures below.  I just like the two wall hangings and wanted to show you guys.  They came from Kirklands back in 2005. The two bunnies I originally got to put on the back porch, but decided since I like looking at them I would bring them indoors.  It's been over 100 degrees for the last 21 days and the extended forecast is calling for more of the same.  So, we don't go out and set on the porch in the evenings right now.

I took the chair and ottoman out and moved it to the media room. Moved the chair from the guest bedroom into our room and set a table next to it.  It opens up the space quite a bit.  The lamp was a "freebie" when you purchased a Casablanca ceiling fan.  We got it when we lived in our previous home.  The old man and woman was given to me by my dad a few weeks ago.  My mother was a big fan of Home Interiors (just like I was).  But after she passed away dad kept them until he remarried and now I have them.  They fit right in with the rustic look.

The dresser, I must confess is my husbands catch-all.  I started to just take the picture like it was, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  So, I waited until cleaning day, when I remove everything and put it in the bench at the foot of the bed. So, at least for part of one day I get to see it clean.  Then he comes home, sorts it back out into his piles and I sigh. Okay, tell me I want to know is it just my husband or are ya'lls the same way?  I'm serious, it really drives me nuts!!!

I hope you like the look of my new blog home. It has been a long labor of love, but I like it so much more than my other one and I want to say A BIG THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING ME again. I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

Julie & Julia and a Mantel

Today has been a lazy day.  I went out to the shop this morning and put some stripper on a Cracker Barrel rocking chair that I'm re-doing.  I got the two arms done and by that time it was already in the mid 90's.  So, I came in and watched Julie & Julia (I love that movie).

But!, the other day I went shopping at Hobby Lobby (66% off) and Goodwill and found some things that  NEEDED a good and loving home.

Queen Bee wanted to show all of you how comfy the rugs are.

After trying a lot of different pieces on my mantel these spoke to me.  Do your things talk to you too?

The candle holder in this picture is from a previous trip to Goodwill.

I hope all you ladies have taken advantage of Hobby Lobby's sale.  I go back and forth from our main house to our second home/restaurant and it's a 4 hour trip, so, when I saw the 66% off at my hometown HL, I started stopping at all of them on my route.  I've found that Texas has a style all its own, well at least different than Arkansas's, because all the things that are scarce on the shelves here are plentiful there.  I've got to find spots for the rest and I can't wait to show you when I do.

Here's to lazy days,

Theresa
